Essentially, InLiving is a role-playing game that is based on a very similar platform to ‘The Sims’. At the beginning of the game, players are able to create customized characters, inputting their first name, age, gender, as well as being able to choose their dress and appearance.
The premise to InLiving is to promote independent living skills, primarily amongst young people who are prospective first-time tenants or who may already be experiencing their very first tenancy. InLiving allows the game’s end-users to experience life as a first-time tenant with limited resources and limited skills, while guiding them through scenarios in which their in-game character will have opportunities to gain additional skills, exploit subsequent opportunities and face some of the trials and challenges that are associated with living independently and successfully maintaining a tenancy.
The game includes the following themes:

Tenancy Management and Independent Living

Education and Work

Affordable Credit and Loan Sharks

Financial Planning and Financial Inclusion

Home Contents Insurance

Anti-social Behaviour

Sofa Surfers and Unwanted Visitors

Healthy Eating
In-game Questionnaire System
InLiving’s innovative in-game questionnaire system serves to test end-user learning outcomes and monitor feedback throughout end-users’ playing of the game.
